Request for restriction on testing for Equine Influenza
It has been requested that trainers do not blanket test their horses at this point in the outbreak unless sick horses are detected to allow AHT to process the large number of samples generated by testing of possible new cases and in-contacts from previous confirmed cases.
BHA update regarding equine influenza situation – 9th February 2019
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA)’s response to the equine influenza situation remains ongoing, in conjunction with the Animal Health Trust (AHT), National Trainers Federation (NTF), numerous individual trainers and the wider racing industry.

As a result of the diagnosis of several Flu outbreaks in Europe, the Stewards of France Galop have decided the following restrictions which will apply with immediate effect and until further notice :
BHA – Equine Influenza Alert – Update
Following the Equine Influenza Alert on 18 January 2019, the BHA has discussed the recent outbreaks in Europe with the Animal Health Trust, and veterinary advisors from stakeholder groups including the National Trainers Federation and the Racehorse Owners Association.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) would like to advise the Responsible Person (i.e. trainers, owners, breeders) and their veterinary surgeons of a new Detection Time for cetirizine and hydroxyzine.
