30 day foal notification to give greater transparency and support British racing’s commitment to whole-life care for thoroughbreds
- From 1 January 2018 breeders are required to notify Weatherbys General Stud Book (GB) within 30 days of the birth of a foal bred for racing
- Development will enable the BHA to trace the welfare and whereabouts of foals before they arrive in a registered training yard
- Information gained will improve transparency and traceability around the care that breeders and owners provide to thoroughbreds at all stages of their lives.
BHA seeks rule change on anti-doping penalties
The BHA is seeking to amend the Rules of Racing to avoid weakening the ability for penalties to be imposed for breaching the equine anti-doping rules.
“First run since wind surgery” published on racecards from 19 January 2018
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that, as of 19 January 2018, racecards will be able to carry information that confirms when a horse is having its first run after having undergone a wind surgery.
France Galop: mandatory vaccination requirements against Equine Herpes Virus
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) would like to make industry participants aware that France Galop has amended its Rules of Racing to make vaccination against Equine Herpes Virus mandatory for all Thoroughbreds in training and racing in France.
BHA update Ringworm – Certificate of Non-Contagiousness
The BHA have updated the BHA VO29 Ringworm – Certificate of Non-Contagiousness, which can be found on the BHA website here. This form has been updated following a period of consultation with the BHA Veterinary Committee and the National Trainers Federation. Please note that copies of the old VO29 form will not be accepted on racecourses from 01 December 2017. The certificate can also be found in the Downloads section of the ARVS Members area
